I've just started reading La Perdida, a really beautiful graphic novel by Jessica Abel. It's about a Mexican-American who goes to Mexico City to 'find herself' and 'get in touch with her roots'. Abel seems to recognise all the pretension and negative sentiment attached to these ideas and takes a fresh approach. I love the illustrations and the mix of Spanish and English too.
